Skycity also has a poker room that runs weekly tournaments for Premier Rewards cardholders. To become a cardholder and avail of the poker tournaments, one has to simply register in their website and bring the necessary requirements to the casino upon visit. As one of New Zealand’s largest poker tournaments, the SkyCity Festival of Poker was attended by more than 100 players who enjoyed the ten side events which had a range of $50 to $1100 buy in. The Festival of Poker culminated in the main event with a prize pool over $170,000.
The nine-day tournament began on Saturday 19 November with the main event held from 24-27 November.
SKYCITY Auckland Table Games Manager, Radha Vellanki, says she is looking forward to hosting players from across Australasia at the highly-anticipated tournament. “The SKYCITY Festival of Poker always delivers an exciting showcase of some of the best New Zealand poker being played and the atmosphere is electric at the main event.
The 2016 Festival of Poker was located in the newly opened SkyCity Auckland Poker Room which offers its own private bar, smoking balcony and toilets.
We would like to say a massive congratulations to the 2016 SkyCity Festival of Poker winner Shane Tamihana. After 3 days of excellent poker Shane walked away with $51,890 and bragging rights for a year! We would also like to congratulate Jackson Zheng who came 2nd winning a total of $33,480 and Te Rangi Matenga who came 3rd winning $21,930!”
